About Tree’s

Tree’s Restaurant and Catering is located at the gateway of wine country in the beautiful small town of Sherwood, Oregon.  With indoor and outdoor (Best Patio on the West Side) seating for a relaxed, casual dining experience.  We are a family restaurant and are owned and operated by Executive Chef Shannon Johnson.  Our unique menu is a fusion of N.W. cuisine with a creole kick.

Chef Shannon grew up in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin and worked her way down the east coast and
landed in Louisiana in her early twenties. Here she enrolled and graduated from the Culinary Arts
Institute of Louisiana in Baton Rouge. She took her culinary education to one of the most prominent
Southern Italian Family restaurants, Gino’s. Located in Baton Rouge, LA,
Chef Shannon had the opportunity to study and learn Southern Italian cooking from one of the best, Mama Marino, and immerse herself in the New Orleans Culinary fare for several years before she moved to the Northwest. Working at
Gino’s offered her the experience of being a Chef.

When Chef Shannon relocated to the Northwest in 2001, she found Sherwood the place to call
home. She worked for Hayden Enterprises which gave her to the opportunity to open two local
Restaurants and the experience working with one of the area’s most well know
restaurateurs and advisors, Bill Hayden. Chef Shannon started by opening the restaurant and writing the
menus for Rivers, now Aqua Rivera, in the famous Johns Landing neighborhood of Portland. She
then offered her experience at Hayden’s Lake Front Grill in Tualatin while opening a restaurant in
the Beaverton area, Pesaro’s Italian Grill.

The dream of owning her own restaurant was not far off.  In 2003 Shannon  opened J2 Catering, Inc. in Sherwood Oregon. She ran this business successfully for 5 years offering catering including, weddings, BBQ’s, corporate lunches etc.. One thing was missing, the restaurant lifestyle, and she knew it was time to take the leap of faith and her experience to
open a restaurant of her own. Tree’s came to be in the SW part of Portland in the PacWest
building . Here she was able to fuse the catering and the restaurant into one culinary and event
space experience for her clients. Unfortunately, this location lacked the family and neighborhood
feel she was seeking. Without a viable dinner program she chose to take a step back and relocate
her vision.  For three years Tree’s thrived as a lunch, catering and happy hour destination for the
financial neighborhood. It was a great experience. It was again time to make a change and bring
Tree’s to the original vision “A neighborhood Restaurant” what better place to pick then her hometown, Sherwood.  Where we locally source and support out hometown farmers and fellow small businesses.

“I’m very excited to meet all of our new clients and see our existing ones again. I love trying new menu items and will be having features monthly that will change with the seasons.  Everyone is welcome to be part of our Tree’s family and I look forward to meeting each and everyone of you.  Thank you for your continued support and love.”  Cheffy Shannon
